Things To Do

Food and Drink
Our local restaurants are fantastic, traditional Tuscan dishes such as tagliatta (steak on a stone), panagatchi (flatbreads with prosciutto and cheeses), porcini polenta and of course risotto, pizza and pasta are truly excellent and well worth exploring.

The local vineyards produce a wide array of wines and your table wine will change radically from village to village, again an enjoyable way to pass a day!

Sports and Festivals
For the more active the local area offers some wonderful walking territory through the Appenine Mountains, as well as horse-riding and mountain biking.

There are festivals, saints days, outdoor opera, live music and theatre going on in the area most of the time – we can find out what’s happening during your stay and let you know in advance!

Lucca
Medieval Lucca is only an hour’s drive away, this is a really special walled town, crammed full of boutique shops and the home of the best hot chocolate in Tuscany. A gem of a visit.

Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terra is unmissable – a world heritage site made up of 5 tiny villages linked by boat, just 40 minutes drive from the villa, you’ll find wonderful restaurants and sweet little bars nestled into the stunning scenery of the clifftop vineyards and basil groves.

This area is also home to 2 marine reserves and offers some incredible snorkeling and scuba diving – you can hire your whole kit in the villages for less than 30 €.

Cerreto
Cerreto is our local ski resort and in the winter months makes a great day out on the slopes, just 30 minutes away up a winding mountain road you can brave the black/red/blue slopes or watch the action from the ground and snuggle in with a pizza in one of the excellent local restaurants.

Sightseeing
Other day trips include Pisa (1 hr-sightseeing), Lerici (30 mins-beaches, bars and restaurants), La Spezia (30 mins-beaches and sailing), Portofino (45 mins-clubbing, bars and beaches), Florence (1.5 hrs-sightseeing) Equiterme (1.5 hrs-geothermal spa).
